HISTORY

For four generations the Berti family’s agricultural business, Società Agricola Berti, has been dedicated with passion and professionalism to the production of extra virgin olive oil at their fully renovated nineteenth-century oil mill.

The business is based among the green hills surrounding Perugia in the districts of Olmo, Fontana and Lacugnano, with a total area of about 30 hectares of olive groves, vines and crops of cereals and legumes.

The history of the Berti family tells of their love for the land and their devotion to the excellence of their company’s products.  The management, now entrusted into the hands of Adam and his children Luca and Silvia, has always been focused on:

– constant meticulous work to maintain quality;
research and experimentation into new agricultural techniques;
– dissemination of the culture and tradition of the local area.

In addition to being a centre for the production and development of high quality extra virgin olive oil, Società Agricola Berti has also become an educational centre for the sharing of knowledge and as a result was awarded the status of an “educational farm” by the Umbria Region in 2010.

This project is the result of many years of voluntary cooperation between the Berti family, the University and several schools in Perugia, inspired by the belief that knowledge is the strongest asset for all consumers who believe in excellent food.

The Berti family is happy to welcome lovers of excellent food during their visit to Umbria who would like to take guided tours and participate in tastings of their delicious products: olive oil bruschetta, wines and other specialities.
